Desk Risers are a cost-effective and simple solution to raising your desk height without having to purchase a whole new desk. Sold in sets of four, they are quick and easy to install as you simply position them under your existing desk legs. Each riser gives you 2.6cm of height adjustment with a maximum of three giving you an overall lift of 7.8cm.

Sitting in a hunched position places unnecessary strain on your upper body and can have detrimental effects on your health. In the short term, you can experience discomfort, stiffness and soreness in your neck shoulders and back but in the longer term, you could develop more serious issues such as rounded shoulders and excessive curvature (kyphosis) of the upper back (thoracic).

Your desk height should typically allow you to sit upright with your elbows resting naturally at your sides, in-line with the middle row of keys on your computer keyboard. Your forearms should be positioned parallel with the floor and if your chair has armrests, these should be set to just above the height of your desk ad not cause any upward pressure on your shoulders.

Your computer monitor should be positioned so that the top of the screen is at eye level and at an arm’s length away. You might need to consider using a monitor arm or stand to help set your monitor to the correct height.

Good posture also uses less energy because your muscles work more efficiently when well-aligned. This means that sitting with the correct posture allows you to expel energy on movements you wish to make rather than those you don’t.
