Workplace Adjustments

Workplace adjustments are practical changes, equipment, technology or support that help individuals work more comfortably, effectively and confidently.

At Back Care Solutions, we provide both workplace adjustments themselves and the specialist services that help identify, recommend and implement the right solutions. From ergonomic equipment and assistive technology to expert assessments, training and coaching, we help remove workplace barriers, reduce pain and discomfort, and create working environments where people can perform at their best. Our approach can support existing needs while also helping to prevent problems from developing in the future.

The right chair can transform the comfort and support an individual’s experiences throughout their working day.

We offer a wide range of ergonomic seating, with different sizes and configurations to suit individual requirements and workplace environments. Options include memory foam, inflatable supports, cut-out zones, armrests and headrests, while our Custom-Fit service can create bespoke backrests and seat pads for more complex needs. We also offer mobility chairs for individuals who require additional support with mobility and positioning.

Encouraging regular changes in posture and position can make a positive difference to the working day.

Our range of electric and manually adjustable standing desks gives users the flexibility to move between sitting and standing, helping to avoid prolonged periods of sitting. With a variety of options available, we can help find a sit-stand solution that works for both the individual and their workspace.

Ergonomic input devices can make computer work more comfortable by encouraging a more natural position for the hands, wrists and forearms.

We offer a broad selection of standard and specialist keyboards and mice, including vertical and split designs, so that individuals can choose equipment suited to their needs and working style.

Small changes can have a meaningful impact on comfort and workstation setup. Our range includes wrist rests, monitor arms, laptop stands, back and seat supportsdocument holders and other ergonomic accessories. These solutions can help fine-tune a workstation, improve positioning and provide additional support where it is needed.

Services Which Enable Workplace Adjustments

The right adjustment starts with understanding what the individual needs. Our specialist services bring together assessment, expertise and ongoing support to identify barriers, develop appropriate recommendations and help employers put effective solutions into place.

Choosing an ergonomic chair is about more than simply selecting a suitable model. Our Chair Assessments look at the individual, their measurements, working environment and the tasks they carry out, helping to establish whether an existing chair can be adjusted effectively or whether a different seating solution would be more appropriate. This ensures that recommendations are based on the person rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Our DSE and ergonomic assessments provide a detailed look at the individual’s workstation, equipment, working practices and environment. Conducted remotely or onsite, they identify potential risks and opportunities for improvement, with clear recommendations and a detailed report to help employers make informed decisions about appropriate adjustments.

Workplace Needs Assessment takes a broader view of the individual and the demands of their role. We identify barriers that may be affecting their ability to work effectively and recommend appropriate adjustments, equipment, technology or support. The result is a personalised approach that gives employers a clearer understanding of how they can best support their employee.

Every person works differently, and the right environment can make a significant difference to how someone feels and performs at work.

Our Neurodiversity Workplace Needs Assessments explore the individual’s specific needs and workplace challenges, identifying practical adjustments and strategies that can support wellbeing, productivity and inclusion.

Workplace barriers are not always immediately visible, and they are not always physical. Our specialist assessments consider requirements associated with areas such as hearing loss, visual impairment and dyslexia, helping to identify the adjustments, equipment, technology and strategies that can make the workplace more accessible and inclusive.

Technology can open up new ways of working and remove barriers that might otherwise limit an individual’s potential. We provide a combination of specialist software and hardware to support a wide range of needs, including dyslexia, visual impairment, hearing loss and physical or neurological requirements.

The most effective technology is technology that people feel confident using. Our tailored Assitive Technology Training helps individuals make the most of their assistive software, from essential functions through to more advanced features. Training can be delivered remotely or onsite, depending on the software and individual requirements.

Sometimes the most valuable adjustment is having the right strategies and support in place. Our coaching services provide individuals with practical tools, confidence and personalised approaches to managing workplace demands and overcoming challenges. Options include Workplace Strategy Coaching and ADHD/AuDHD Coaching.

For people who drive as part of their role, their vehicle is an important part of their working environment. Our Vehicle Assessments consider the driver’s posture, vehicle setup and areas of discomfort, identifying adjustments and recommendations designed to improve comfort and support while driving. Assessments are carried out onsite with the vehicle stationary and are followed by a report outlining our recommendations.
