Pregnancy Support Belt Product Details

Pregnancy Support Belt will help support your foetus during pregnancy by providing some light compression underneath your abdomen. It will also support your lumbar spine and sacroiliac joint, both of which are put under significantly more strain during pregnancy.

The support can be reversed, and once the metal inserts are removed, can be used after pregnancy to help support the lax ligaments and muscles around the pelvis. This helps to reduce the occurrence of back pain post-pregnancy whilst the body regains its original shape.

This support is breathable and adjustable as well as being slimline, which means it can be worn underneath everyday clothes.

Ergonomic Benefits

Pregnancy support belts are designed to support the lower back and abdomen during pregnancy. Back and joint pain during pregnancy can be very unpleasant and distracting and as a result inhibit participation in everyday activities. Wearing a support belt could help with this so you can continue to enjoy an active lifestyle.

Sacroiliac joint pain can occur during pregnancy as a result of the increase of relaxin, which is a hormone that causes the hip joints to become loose and less stable. The result is a sharp and sometimes excruciating pain in the lower back adjacent to the tailbone. Pregnancy support bands help to support this region which will help to manage the pain.

Round ligament pain can occur during pregnancy and this is pain that occurs around the front of the hips and below the belly. This is caused by the extra weight and pressure on the ligaments that support the growing uterus. It is a temporary and sometimes unbearable problem, but wearing a pregnancy support belt will help distribute the weight of the baby across you back and abdomen. This should help relieve the pressure on the round ligaments and reduce pain.

Pregnancy support belts help facilitate good posture, by supporting your lower back and torso and preventing overextension of the lower back. The typical “swayback” appearance of pregnancy is due to the extra weight being carried in front of the body in combination with the stretching and weakening of key core muscles that support the spine.

Pregnancy support belts can also be worn after pregnancy to provide support and help manage pain. Decreased core strength is common in the weeks following birth because the muscles and ligaments that were stretched and strained during pregnancy require time to heal. Weakness combined with the demanding job of caring for a baby can be challenging and lead to injuries. A support belt provides additional support which can assist in this period of recovery.
